Channy Chhi Laux was 13 in 1975 when the Khmer Rouge took over Cambodia. In 1979, she immigrated to Lincoln. Her memoir, Short Hair Detention, focuses on her experiences during the Cambodian genocide, her adjustment to Lincoln, and the challenges she faced in a male-dominated career field.
